….and yarn mountain is getting bigger.
The last application for the season is out the door, all the Christmas shows have been booked. My air miles are enough for Pearl and I to head out for the next show and no more judgments.
When you apply for a job you are under a great deal of scrutiny for your first three months and then you’re pretty much in. Imagine having to reapply for your own job (that you’ve done well at) every year. But imagine that you are interviewed by a different boss. Someone who has never worked with you before and that your interview will last under 5 minutes.
That’s what jurying for shows is like. No wonder artisans have such fragile egos.
Now I can get back to the focus at hand..it’s all about inventory. Once a week from now until the end of the season I am going to have a destination knitting, spinning or weaving day. Everything I do is transportable so I’m getting my ass out there.
I think I will end up at Grouse Mountain this week. Hmmm. I wonder what Toni is doing.
Wow, Dawn, I completely empathize. i had no idea that less than 8 years experience is treated so harshly.

Sounds like the life of any young teacher in BC with less than 8 years experience, pre-emptively laid off every spring. Yet, they expect us to pour our hearts and souls into teaching and inspiring the next generation. Welcome to layoff season.
Don’t worry Carol, I’ll make sure to put something aside for you. The green and blue will look amazing on you. It fits the same as the pinks. Have fun this weekend.
oops! That was me in that last post! Did you get my posts here from last Friday, Carmen? I’m hoping to catch up to you next month! (Heading out of town this week-end, unfortunately, otherwise I’d head to Portobello.) Really dying to see those finished silk pink and blue/green hats! – Carol 😉
Hope you’re not up there today, C! I’m sure you’d be up to your chin in snow! ;-p – C2
Fantastic plan! I have a hard time breaking out of my hermit habits.
I think one of your excursions should be Maine. Definitely Maine.
I can get together after the post office tomorrow at your Starbucks for a bit in the morning…around 9:15?
Do you have time this week for a get together? I’m busy Thursday morning, but the rest of my week is open.
What a great idea! Destination knitting, how inspiring! I totally agree with your definition of jurying. The work looks beautiful as per usual. Stopping by to see what lovelies you have on your blog makes my day.
