On the Road Again

My current car knitting on the way to Whistler this morning.  I love committing to a new design at 6am.  I actually started 3 swatches and ended up with something sort of adorable on my 4th try.  That still gave me half the ride and the day at the market.

Today’s market was full of sunshine and fairy dust.  It was just so lovely.

The warm breezes combined with great neighbours and customers made today close to perfect.  Stepping back to only doing one market per weekend has changed our pace enormously.

  • we’re not rushing from show to show
  • I feel better prepared
  • I have one more day for production
  • I have 110% to give when it’s only one show day.

Now I am freaking slightly as it’s just over 2 weeks until Filberg. If I get a pull out couch for the studio and move in temporarily, I think I can get everything done.

Triple A

Awesome Alberta Alpaca. Mine, mine, mine….Oh, so happy, so soft, so luscious, so fabulous…so mine..  Sorry.  I already called it.  I will be wading in mountains of it.  Should take me a few days.

It’s Going to be a Bright, Bright, Bright

sun shiny day….or not. Not all markets give the optimum weather conditions. But what works for one vendor is not necessarily what works for me. I LOVE chilly overcast days. There is nothing better than that to shock someone into considering wool scarves in the summer.

Great chats, excellent location, super sales—what can I say. This year all the markets seem to have been touched by something magical. I feel a weird and wonderful connection to people. And of course having John with me all the time makes the booth a party for two, no matter what the rest of the day holds. BTW, it’s not a private party, if you pass by the booth, you are more than welcome to join in.

Three weeks to Filberg and the Tour de Fleece is in full swing. First skein. No yellow jersey for this attempt, but stay tuned.

Happy Canada Day

We have so many options for our day today.

  1. Grouse Grind
  2. Jazz Festival
  3. Salmon Festival in Steveston
  4. Watch World Cup Soccer

Hmm. Now to add in one more factor to help me choose. Which one can comfortably involve being able to knit and possibly to spin.

World Cup it is!! This is the best option because before the game starts I can fit in some spinning while watching X-Files on the Space Channel. I realize that I am far from exciting in my plans to day, but John and Kim are quite happy to watch the soccer, it is raining and well, the inventory is not going to make itself.

UPDATE: The World Cup is tomorrow!!!EEK…..ok, the Grind it is. Knitting will be highly inconvenient.

Things I signed on for this week.

  • 50 kids hat —17 done – update 43 hats completed!!!
  • 3 scarves 1 done—update 4 scarves
  • 6 skeins 0 done —-update 4 done
  • TDF (Tour de Fleece) Can’t start spinning until the official race starts, but that is 45 skeins for the month.

I have realized that without several deadlines looming at once, I really can’t be happy. So basically everything is on track.

Enjoy your Canada Day today. Find a few minutes for knitting if you can and if not, please let me live vicariously through your great adventure!
